The other day we had a visit from the food service and sustainability folks at Guilford College over in Greensboro.  They joined us for lunch on Local Food Friday.  Here is what they wrote about their “Trip Down Lorax Lane.”

On May 26th at the Mobilizing NC conference in Raleigh, NC, Piedmont Biofuels was recognized for our outstanding achievements in expanding North Carolina’s use and awareness of alternative fuel. The 2010 MobileCare Fuel/Technology award was presented by NC Dept of Transportation Secretary Gene Conti. Piedmont was selected for this award for several reasons; namely, that Piedmont is the one of the state’s first biodiesel producer and distributor. In addition, Piedmont is the only BQ-9000 accredited producer in North Carolina and the first certified small producer in the U.S. The selection committee was also impressed by Piedmont’s biodiesel related education and outreach activities especially to low-income and minority farmers. The MobileCare team thanked Piedmont for being a pioneer in the area of transportation-related clean air and renewable energy initiatives.

McGregor and Rachel just came back from a Clean Technology Demonstration gig in Virginia.  Here’s how their workshop was covered in the local press.

Red Hat is a giant Linux company on the other side of the lake that is one of the leading proponents of “open source” software.  They have recently launched opensource.com as a community service.  Here’s Lyle’s contribution on “Open Biodiesel.“

Chris Jude strikes again.  He’s back from a four state tour of the southeast, pulling our Clean Technology Demonstration rig.  Here’s a video about his tour.

Chris Jude and our Design Build crew built a biodiesel plant on a school bus for Craven County Schools.  It’s actually our second school bus installation.  Read about it here.

Lyle did a stint on WCOM a few weeks back on sustainable biofuels.

We had another group of home schoolers tour the plant, and they put up this slide show about us.  Wild.
