Tours

After years of operating out of multiple=We are now one location. We are simply one Piedmont Biofuels. We figure it’s time to sled downhill for a change.

If you want to mail us something, send it to 220 Lorax Lane #1, Pittsboro, NC 27312

If you want to visit us, or ship us something, head for 220 Lorax Lane, Pittsboro, NC 27312. We are at the end of Industrial Park Drive on the east side of town. Come on back–we are the only thing back there.

On most Sunday afternoons at 1:00 we offer free tours to anyone who wants to check out our biodiesel plant, or wants to learn something about the eco-industrial park that we call home. We roll at 1:00 sharp so if you lollygag in at 1:15 you may find we are well underway.

We do not run the tours on national holidays, or on the Sundays of the Shakori Hills music festivals in the spring and fall. Feel free to call in advance, but there is no registration required. That means we don’t offer guided tours on Labor Day, Memorial Day, Easter, Christimas weekends–that sort of thing. If you are interested in learning about biodiesel on Shakori weekends, we take our Clean Technology Demonstration Trailer out to the festival grounds in Silk Hope. Join us for a session. We are a regular part of their Sustainability Series.

Some of our visitors are famous. Senators Kay Hagan (NC) and Byron Dorgan (ND) came to Piedmont to learn about biodiesel.

On the first Friday of every month we run a free tour at 10:00. What’s the difference between a Sunday tour and a First Friday tour? There isn’t one. The Friday tours tend to be filled with business people, and economic developers and the like. The Sunday tours are filled with curious members of the community, people who are thinking about brewing their own biodiesel, farmers, and anyone else looking for something to do on a Sunday in Pittsboro.
