Here at Piedmont Biofuels we run a specialized biodiesel production quality control laboratory.

Often we consult with others that are building biodiesel plants or working on perfecting their current process for new equipment or variations in catalyst or feedstock. If you are looking for assistance in either quality control or process adjustments, we can provide analytical support.

Our current on-site capabilities include:

A. Feedstock analysis
(Free Fatty Acid Content, Moisture, Water and Sediment) $75.00 per feedstock sample.

B. Feedstock performance

(Lab scale process evaluation) $100.00 per hour; 2 liter sample required

At Piedmont Biofuels, we can evaluate certain biodiesel feedstocks for their suitability for various biodiesel production technologies. We have worked with a variety of feedstocks including but not limited to: virgin oils (soybean, canola, palm, peanut, sunflower, cottonseed), animal fats, yellow and brown greases. A feedstock performance analysis will include our initial feedstock analysis in addition to a lab scale processing to determine reaction capability and process performance.

C. Individual Biodiesel and Glycerol tests:

Currently we have the analytical capability to test several of the ASTM standards for Biodiesel D6751 in addition to AOCS (American Oil Chemist Society) methodology for fats and oils and European test methods for biodiesel

1. ASTM D6751 PLUS : This includes all ASTM D6751 testing plus KF Moisture content and Soap content:   $1000.00 Package Price

2. Critical Producer PLUS: Total and Free Glycerin, Soap Content, Acid Number, Moisture Content, Flash Point, Cold Soak Filtration Test:  $300.00

3. Critical Fleet B100: Acid Number, Moisture Content, Microbial Growth, Cloud Point, Flash Point, Water and Sediment, Cold Soak Filtration Test, and Oxidative Stability $300.00

4. Critical Fleet B20: Acid Number, Microbial Growth, Cloud Point, Flash Point, Percent Biodiesel, and Oxidative Stability: $265.00

5. Glycerol Analysis: Glycerin Content, Methanol Content, Moisture Content, Ash content, Density and/or Specific Gravity  $250.00

Piedmont Biofuels’ Bio-refinery operations includes analytical capabilities to process and determine the quality of crude biodiesel glycerin. If you want to better understand the co-product of your biodiesel process, send us a sample.

How do I submit a Sample for testing?

First call or email to submit a lab testing request.

You send us the required sample volume, typically a 1-2 liter sample to the address below.

We request that you use a sample jar similiar to these.
