Lyle Estill

Lyle Estill is a founder of Piedmont Biofuels, and goes by the V.P. of Stuff, which is the title on his business card. He is the publisher of Energy Blog, where he goes by Dr. Estill. His wife got him a fake PhD on the occasion of his forty fifth birthday. According to the Secretary of State, he is the President of Piedmont Biofuels Industrial, LLC.

He is the author of Biodiesel Power; the passion, people, and politics of the next renewable fuel. And he has written a bunch of columns and essays and such that you can check out here.  His latest book is Small is Possible; Life in a Local Economy.

Here is his actual resume.

He is an active member of the Board of Directors for the Piedmont Biofuels Coop, a former member of Chatham Country’s Green Building Task Force, and a member of Chatham Marketplace, where he likes to go for lunch.

If you need a speaker, or a writer, Lyle is a good choice. Except he is no longer free. He runs on a sliding scale fee schedule which ranges from 500.00 plus expenses for non-profits and community groups, to 2500.00 plus expenses for those who are intent on becoming the next Rockefellers of fuel.

Before assuming he would be a great speaker for your group, delve into some of his speeches, which are published here. He sort of falls into the “Be Careful What You Wish For” category of speaker.

And if you need other things that are presidential in nature–like mopping up spills or mowing the yard, email him. He is lyle@biofuels.coop.
