We at Piedmont Biofuels are committed to providing our members and customers with high quality, locally sourced and produced biodiesel. To meet ever increasing demands for our sustainable alternative to petroleum diesel, we are growing our used oil collection business. It’s a big job and every gallon counts!

• Convenience Centers are a Convenient way to support Piedmont Biofuels!- Next time you drop off your recycling, bring your oil and ask the attendant where the proper place to recycle it is… if the location does not yet have a bin, please request one or let us know! Using this service keeps the oil out of our landfills and sewers,  lowering costs of disposal. Help us make more renewable fuel. Tell your friends and family. Thanks!

• Special Events – Do you have a fish fry fundraiser coming up? Or, are you hosting a festival or large event? Let us know about your event and we will deploy collection bins in advance and collect the oil and bins afterward free of charge. You may also want to consider having our Clean-Tech mobile biodiesel processing demonstration trailer at your event if it fits the mood…

How Does the Used Cooking Oil Collection Service Work?

Our service includes more than just picking up your grease to make sustainable biodiesel. We will:

• Provide the collection bins (from barrels to dumpsters) and collect on a consistent schedule depending on your needs, all for free.
• Help maintain a clean area around the collection bin. If we spill for any reason we scrub it right up using an all natural, biodegradable degreaser made from the glycerin co-product of making biodiesel. If employees are having a hard time keeping the area clean, we will work directly with them to find a system that works.
• Respond to customer service requests quickly. At Piedmont Biofuels you can still get a courteous human on the phone who will take care of your needs. Dealing with a small local business has its advantages.
• Prefer to sign a simple non-binding agreement with our partners. We have no hidden agenda and no tricky roll-over binding contracts. Our partners are pleased by our service and stick with us because they are satisfied and support our mission.
• Serve locations in a 100 mile radius from Pittsboro NC.  This includes the Triangle area as well as Greensboro, Winston-Salem Burlington, Hillsborough, Siler City, Sanford, Ft. Bragg and Fayetteville areas.
• Work hard to promote your establishment as a green business for partnering with us by giving us your grease. We provide front door stickers, logos for menus, banners, buttons, and feature you as one of our Partners in Sustainability. We actively participate in community festivals and events spreading information and promoting your business at the same time. Another benefit to you is that we have a monthly newsletter that goes out to our co-op members once a month, and as a partner you will be welcome to submit coupons to be passed on to our members.
• Unlike other grease collectors, we don’t sell it for use in animal feed or cosmetics. We recycle it into renewable fuel right here where it builds the local economy by providing jobs and keeping our air clean.

Proud to be BQ9000

Piedmont Biofuels is the smallest BQ9000 biodiesel producer in the World and the only BQ9000 certified producer in North Carolina! If you are unfamiliar with the program, BQ9000 is a voluntary quality certification established by The National Biodiesel Accreditation Program.

As the only BQ9000 producer in NC, we are the only NC facility that supplies our state vehicle fleets with biodiesel. We are working with the NC Department of Public Instruction to make biodiesel available to more school systems for use in school buses. The more used cooking oil we collect, the more school systems we can serve. If you know a restaurant or cafeteria owner who would be interested in our service, let us know.

When we started making biodiesel in the backyard, we just wanted to meet our own fuel needs.  From our roots at the bend in the Pittsboro-Moncure Rd. we sprouted a vision. A vision of leading the way towards sustainability in North Carolina.
